If you've ever onboarded a new customer and realized three weeks later that their tax exemption certificate was missing, expired, or filed in the wrong place, you already understand the problem this integration solves.
Starting today, Nuvo customers can collect, validate, and manage tax exemption certificates directly within their Nuvo onboarding workflow with tax compliance powered by Avalara running in the background. No separate system, manual follow-up, or chasing documents after the fact.
For most B2B suppliers, credit onboarding and tax compliance have always been two separate workstreams. A new customer submits a credit application, gets approved, and starts placing orders, and somewhere in that process, someone is supposed to collect the right tax documentation, verify it's valid, and make sure it ends up in the right place for the right jurisdiction.
In practice, that handoff breaks constantly. Certificates arrive late, get filed inconsistently, or turn out to be expired when an auditor comes looking. For suppliers operating across multiple states, the complexity multiplies fast.
The Nuvo-Avalara integration closes that gap at the source: during onboarding, before the first order ships.
"Onboarding and tax compliance have historically lived in separate systems, owned by different teams, and connected by manual work," said Sid Malladi, CEO at Nuvo. "Together with Avalara, Nuvo is collapsing that gap into a single workflow, giving suppliers a faster path to revenue without introducing compliance risk."
When a customer submits their application through Nuvo, the integration handles tax compliance in three steps:
Document classification: Nuvo's AI reads uploaded tax documents in real time, identifying document type, issuing jurisdiction, and exemption reason automatically. The right documents get collected upfront, without your team having to review each one manually.
Certificate management: With just a click, Nuvo creates customer records and attaches tax exemption documents in Avalara’s Exemption Certificate Management platform. The documents are then stored in a centralized compliance repository and linked to each customer's tax profile, making everything audit-ready from day one.
The practical impact is straightforward: Your team stops managing tax documentation as a separate, manual process. Exemption certificates get collected, validated, and stored as part of the same workflow your customers already complete to establish credit terms, not as a separate step someone has to remember.
For suppliers in building materials, food service, chemicals, manufacturing, and other industries where tax exemptions are common and audit exposure is real, your AR and finance teams get one fewer thing to chase, reconcile, or worry about when a renewal comes due.
The integration is available now for all Nuvo platform customers.
